SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - U.S. Border Patrol agents seized nearly $170,000 in narcotics and arrested one man Monday near Bonsall.

Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stopped a 39-year-old man traveling near the intersection of Interstate 15 and State route 76, near Bonsall, just after noon yesterday. Upon inspection, agents said a K-9 unit detected a positive alert, resulting in a search of the man's vehicle.

Agents discovered 23 packages stuffed inside the lining of the car's back seats, containing 7.03 pounds of black tar heroin and 27.16 pounds of methamphetamine. The combined street value of the drugs is estimated to be $169,674.

The man, a Mexican national, and drugs were both turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration agents. The vehicle was turned over to CBP.
