Border Patrol agents seize handguns, rifle, more than 200 rounds of ammo

SAN DIEGO - Border Patrol agents arrested a U.S. citizen Thursday they said was in possession of guns and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents stopped a vehicle at about 4 p.m. on La Media Road, near State Route 905, after observing a "suspicious vehicle."

During the stop, the 24 year-old driver granted the CBP agents' request to search the vehicle, leading the to discovery of weapons and ammo.

Agents seized three semi-automatic handguns, one of which had a high-capacity magazine, an AR-15-style rifle, and more than 200 rounds of ammunition and multiple high-capacity magazines, several of which were loaded.

The man is currently being held in Department of Homeland Security custody and faces state charges for non-compliant firearms and high-capacity magazines.
