SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - SWAT officers were called out to a Logan Heights home Tuesday, after reports that a man attacked a woman with a baseball bat.
San Diego Police said the 40-year-old man attacked the 60-year-old female in the head with a baseball bat in a home in the area of 33rd Street and Gillette St. just after 10:30 a.m. The man sprayed the woman with pepper spray in the kitchen and chased her down a hallway, striking her several times with the bat.
The woman suffered life threatening head injuries, police said.
SWAT officers and police were called to the scene, where the man barricaded himself in the home, turned out the gas to the home and threatened to cause an explosion, according to SDPD.
Police surrounded the home and made their way inside after the gas to the home was turned off. No evacuations of nearby homes were ordered.
The man was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital.
