NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (KGTV) – A Massachusetts mother is speaking out after her son with autism received what she is calling a “disrespectful” award from his teachers, according to WCVB.

Desiree Perez told the station her sixth-grade son Kelvin received the award for “Most likely to get lost in a crowd.” The award was reportedly signed by five teachers.

The teacher at Normandin Middle School apologized to the mother, but told her teachers already left for summer vacation and that nothing could be done, according to WCVB.

"I didn't think it was funny. My son didn't find it funny, either," Perez said. "He said, why was the teacher giving him this award? Because he was never lost in school."
