Amazon now offering two-hour alcohol delivery in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local Amazon Prime members can now get alcohol delivered to their house in two hours or less.

Amazon's Prime Now service, which offers free two-hour delivery of many household essentials exclusively to Prime members, now allows beer, wine, or spirits to be ordered or delivered.

Prime Now is available in 30 cities, with 12 of them allowing alcohol sales and delivery, including San Diego.

The service is free for two-hour delivery or Prime users can select one-hour delivery for an additional $7.99 charge.

An Amazon spokesperson told 10News delivery associates will check customer IDs when they deliver the product to ensure they are 21-years-old or older. 

The full list of cities allow alcohol through the service includes:

  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Chicago, Ill.
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Minneapolis, Mont.
  • New York City, N.Y.
  • Phoenix. Ariz.
  • Portland, Ore.
  • Richmond, Va.
  • San Diego, Calif.
  • San Francisco Bay Area, Calif.
  • Seattle, Wash.
