SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -  This week the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department teamed up with Make a Wish San Diego to help a 3-year-old live out his firefighting dreams.

Nearly a year ago 2-year-old Colton Cantor was diagnosed with leukemia.

At Station 10 he was given personalized turnout gear and a small fire truck. Colton also got to put out a fire and watch a helicopter demonstration.

"With all the hard things that he's had to go through, just to take an opportunity to bring him some joy and some cheer and excitement," said Colton's mom, Jeanette Cantor.

The San Diego Police Department also helped make the day special with a motorcade to the fire station.

Colton finished his initial round of treatment and is doing well. While his journey is not over, most of his future treatments can be done at home.
