SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - Three people are recovering from gunshot wounds Monday after a violent encounter in Santee that started as a drug sale, said the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The shooting was reported just after 3 a.m. at a home in the 8700 block of Railroad Avenue, near Buena Vista Avenue.

Responding sheriff's deputies said three juveniles went to the home to buy marijuana from a 16-year-old dealer and his 18-year-old friend.

A fight broke out between the trio, and the dealer and his friend, said deputies.

The dealer chased the trio and firefd his gun five times, deputies said. One of the juveniles was hit in the foot and suffered minor injuries.

Deputies said the dealer accidentally shot his 18-year-old friend, causing him non-life threatening injuries.

The dealer helped his friend get home, then shot and injured himself in a backyard, according to the Sheriff's Department.  Deputies said they don't know the reason for the shooting.

10News learned investigators recovered the gun used in the shooting and found several shell casings.
