SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Saturday, a handful of San Diego stops are celebrating "4/20" with their own marijuana-themed events.

The date has become synonymous with marijuana gatherings and a celebration of cannabis culture. In recent years, that celebration has become even more mainstream with the passage of laws making recreational marijuana use legal.

However, in California, smoking marijuana in public remains illegal. The federal government also doesn't not recognize legal marijuana use.

That's not stopping San Diegans though. Here are some spots around town to celebrate 4/20 with munchies and brews.

Legal reminders: Only adults 21-years-old and older can use, carry, buy, and grow marijuana. Users can only legally buy from retail outlets licensed by the state. Marijuana cannot be used within 1,000 feet near schools, daycare centers, and youth centers, or on public property.
