SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- On the first day of Kwanzaa, the WorldBeat Cultural Center is hosting a free event.

The event includes traditional libations, drum call, Karamu traditional feast and Kwanzaa poetry by Johnnierenee Nia Nelson.

Doors open at 6 p.m. at the WorldBeat Cultural Center in Balboa Park for the free event.

Kwanzaa is an African American holiday celebrated from December 26 through January 1.
