SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Grab your helmet and your wheels, May is all about the bikes! May is recognized as National Bike Month and Bike to Work Day falls on May 17 - so San Diegans are challenged to "GO by BIKE" throughout the month.

The iCommute website, powered by SANDAG and the 511 information service, has a full list of family-friendly events to celebrate biking in the community. The San Diego Bike Coalition is also in on the fun. The group will start the fun on Thursday, May 3 with a kickoff party and ride.

“In San Diego, we’re lucky to have perfect biking weather all year long,” says Bike Coalition Executive Director Andy Hanshaw. “We hope that May brings awareness to the many opportunities and benefits of bicycling in our region so that people treat every month like Bike Month.”

Don't forget to tune up!

UC San Diego's Campus Bike & Skate is offering a $10 discount on bike tune-ups through May 31.
