SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — On May 4th, "Star Wars" fans across the country will celebrate the beloved universe and film franchise with movie marathons, cosplay, and specially created treats in the name of the galactic saga.
In San Diego, that means special beer and entertainment events around town to help bring fans together to share in the spirit of May the Fourth.
The date, May 4, plays off the iconic saying through the "Star Wars" film: "May the force be with you." The force being the metaphysical, powerful energy field created by all living things that gives a Jedi — or Sith — their power.
In the very least, it's a great day to bust out your best Yoda impression. Happy, we're sure you'll be.

San Diego libraries: Free Comic Book Day/Star Wars Day
Where: City of San Diego libraries
Local libraries are celebrating Star Wars Day and Free Comic Book Day together! Kids can come down to their local library dressed in character (Star Wars or superhero) and take part in a photo showdown, to see which side has the most representation. Plus, free comic books, including Star Wars and Ninja Turtles.

Lola Demure's Burlesque & Variety Show: May The 4th
Where: House of Blues
House of Blues San Diego hosts striptease, song, dance routines as burlesque dancers perform dressed as Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, droids, and even Darth Vader and a Skywalker.
May the 4th be With You jazz concert
Where: MiraCosta College
Composer and arranger Francisco Torres and MOJO and the Jazz Collective host a night of Star Wars-themed jazz at MiraCosta.
May the Fourth Be With You Celebration
Where: Moonlight Amphitheater, Vista
Get dressed in your best Jedi robes and pack you lightsaber, Moonlight Amphitheater is hosting a viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and a performance by the band "the Millennial Falcons."
Film and Float: The Empire Strikes Back

It's a special late-night edition of Film and Float at the Lafayette Hotel with a screening of The Empire Strikes Back at the club's pool.
