SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Father's Day weekend has plenty of opportunities to get outside, grab some food, listen to tunes, and more!

Check out world-renowned rockers the Barenaked Ladies live at the San Diego County Fair on Thursday, hot off their latest album "Fake Nudes."

Also at the fair this weekend, the San Diego International Beer Festival. The event brings together samples from nearly 200 breweries for an all-out taste of the best brews around.

Father's Day will give families the chance to enjoy the day near the coast, at Belmont Park's "Cruisin' at Belmont" Father's Day fest and car show. Or, if boating is dad's thing, check out the 28th annual San Diego Wooden Boat Festival.

Here's a look at what's happening this weekend:

THURSDAY

Barenaked Ladies

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds; Cost: Free - $36

Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, and Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies head to the San Diego County Fair's Grandstand Stage. Off their new release, "Fake Nudes," the band will hit Del Mar bringing the hits “One Week,” “Pinch Me, “Brian Wilson,” and “If I Had $1,000,000.”

 

USA Surfing Championships

Where: Oceanside Harbor; Cost: Free to spectate

Check out surfers go head-to-head, shred the gnar, and get pitted in Oceanside, as part of the USA Surfing Championships. 

FRIDAY

San Diego International Beer Festival

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds; Cost: $60 - $110

(Friday to Sunday) Kegs of award-winning beers from nearly 200 breweries will set up shop at the San Diego International Beer Festival, spread across five, 4-hour sessions. Designated drivers get in for free with fair admission.

 

School of Rock: The Musical

Where: San Diego Civic Theatre; Cost: $45 - $92

(Thursday to Sunday) Based on the hit film, "School of Rock" comes to San Diego's broad stage, featuring 14 new songs in addition to those from the original movie. The performance follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star, posing as a substitute teacher who turns a straight-A class into a rock band.

SATURDAY

24th annual Taste of Gaslamp

Where: Gaslamp District; Cost: $45 - $75

Taste of Gaslamp showcases the historic district's dining options with samples from 24 different restaurants, a self-guided tour, and beer garden at Karl Strauss Brewery.

 

Jazz on Third: Music for a Cause

Where: El Primero Hotel; Cost: Free

Award-winning guitarist and singer Steph Johnson performs with Ryman Entezari, Rob Thorsen, and Richard Sellers at Chula Vista's El Primero. Enjoy some awesome jazz music at this event benefiting the local nonprofit Community Through Hope.

SUNDAY

28th annual San Diego Wooden Board Festival

Where: Koehler Kraft Boat Yard; Cost: Free - $5

(Saturday to Sunday) The San Diego Wooden Board Festival gives boating enthusiasts the opportunity to get on deck of vintage vessels. The weekend celebration includes live music, food truck fun, a variety of booths, and activities for all ages.

 

5th annual "Cruisin' at Belmont" Father's Day fest and car show

Where: Belmont Park; Cost: Free

What's better than a classic car show at a scenic amusement park on the coast? Take dad out Sunday to check out Belmont Park's "Cruisin' at Belmont" car show, featuring live music, kids crafts, beer tastings, and more.
