SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With July 4 celebrations wrapping up, it's a great weekend to chill outside and take in some music or a picnic!

Balboa Park's Twilight concerts in the Park is in full swing! This week, head over to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion for some contemporary blues tunes.

Balboa Park's "Food Truck Friday" is also in full gear and this week, the Timken Museum of Art is offering families to chance to leave their mark with a free mural painting experience.

If you didn't get your fill of patriotic treats, Taste of San Diego hits Waterfront Park on Saturday, giving guests plenty to try.

There's also time to catch Eclipse Chocolate's Cupcake Extravaganza this weekend, because who doesn't love cupcakes.

THURSDAY

Twilight concerts in the Park

Where: Balboa Park; Cost: Free

Enjoy a summer concert at twilight at Balboa Park, featuring contemporary blues band 145th St. Pack a picnic basket and grab a blanket for the concert starting at 6:30 p.m.

 

Sculpture in the Garden

Where: San Diego Botanical Garden; Cost: Free - $14

Visit the San Diego Botanical Garden for their special Sculpture in the Garden exhibit, featuring 61 works by 30 artists. The 37-acre display features sculptures from the whimsical to the abstract.

 

FRIDAY

Dead & Company

Where: Mattress Firm Amphitheatre; Cost: $47 - $191

Listen up, Deadheads. The boys are in town! Dead & Company, comprised of former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti, will headline the Mattress Firm Amphitheatre for a night of classic tunes and good times.

 

Summer Family Mural Project

Where: Timken Museum of Art; Cost: Free

Head to Balboa Park for Food Truck Friday and join the Timken Museum's free family mural project! Families will help paint a large mural in front of the Timken, then go inside for an art treasure hunt.

 

SATURDAY

Taste of San Diego

Where: Waterfront Park; Cost: Free

Treat your palate to the variety of food available for purchase at Taste of San Diego. Dozens of local artisans and designers, and relaxing music will transform Waterfront Park into a culinary Mecca along with the park's interactive water fountains and a playground.

 

SheFest

Where: North Park Community Park; Cost: Free

She Fest is a festival that celebrates and supports the talents and contributions of women while fostering meaningful connections within and between the LGBT and larger San Diego communities. The festival highlights San Diego Pride next weekend.

 

SUNDAY

11th annual Cupcake Extravaganza

Where: Eclipse Chocolate; Cost: Varies

Like cupcakes? Who doesn't! Enjoy delicious cupcake creations by Eclipse Chocolate featuring everything from chocolate ganache or whipped vanilla bean swiss meringue to mango salsa or beer & pretzel caramel!

 

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
