Exploring San Diego: Brewbies Beer Fest, Supercross, Family Fun Day

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Head out for a night of supercross stunt action or Lunar New Year fun in San Diego this weekend.

AMA Supercross returns to Petco Park, where riders will tear through turns and jumps for hours of action-packed fun. The San Diego Chinese Historical Society hosts a Chinese New Year festival to celebrate the Year of the Rat with traditional performances and delicious foods.

Museum Month is happening across San Diego's local museums this month, offering half-off admission for visitors who grab a free pass. Fleet Science Center is also hosting a free STEM fair to give kids and families hands-on access to see how STEM is applied in real-world situations.

The Brewbies Beer Festival returns to raise funds for breast cancer research with loads of delicious brews and fun, and San Diego Family Fun Day is hosting a day-long celebration with inflatable obstacle courses, raffles, giant party games, and more.

Here's a look at what's happening this weekend:

THURSDAY

Museum Month
Where: Various locations; Cost: Prices vary
(Saturday - Sunday) Throughout the month of February, San Diegans and visitors can pick up a special, free pass to save 50 percent at more than 40 museums throughout the city. Museums like the Fleet Science Center, Maritime Museum, San Diego Air & Space Museum, Natural History Museum, and many more are participating in the special month.

High Tech Fair
Where: Fleet Science Center; Cost: Free
(Thursday - Friday) Students in grades 7-12 can learn all about the opportunities in the STEM field with hands-on activities and exhibitions covering aerospace, biotechnology, environmental science, sustainability, and more. More than 30 exhibitors will offer students and families the chance to see real-life applications of STEM sciences.

FRIDAY

Cinema Under the Stars: Joker
Where: 4040 Goldfinch St., San Diego; Cost: $17 - $20
(Friday - Saturday) Just in time for the Oscar awards on Sunday, Academy Award-nominated "Joker" hits to Cinema Under the Stars this weekend at the Mission Hills theater. The film follows Joaquin Phoenix's turn as "The Joker," in this controversial take on the comic book villain's origin.

First Friday Night Market
Where: Grossmont Center; Cost: Free
Grab a taste of delicious vegan eats during the First Friday Night Market in La Mesa, featuring foods from local vegan eateries and Valentine's Day-themed shopping for sweethearts.

SATURDAY

AMA Energy Supercross
Where: Petco Park; Cost: Tickets start at $20
Petco Park is packing its field with adrenaline-packed, high-speed racing by AMA Supercross. Athletes race over about 26 million pounds of dirt in 20 races, tearing up tight corners, jumps, and rhythm sections of the track.

11th annual Brewbies Beer Festival
Where: Bagby Beer Company; Cost: $49 - $198
The San Diego-born Brewbies Beer Fest brings together beer-loving locals to help benefit breast cancer research with a day filled with unique and specialty beer tastings, delicious food, a corn hole tournament, and more fun.

Kids Construction Expo
Where: Scottish Rite Masonic Center; Cost: Free
Kids an families can jump into interactive activities and displays and learn about the construction industry. Kids can also participate in a challenge to use their imaginations and construct their very own projects, fostering interest in the industry and allowing participants to flex their creativity.

SUNDAY

Chinese New Year Fair
Where: San Diego Chinese Historical Society; Cost: Free
(Saturday - Sunday) Celebrate Chinese New Year for two days downtown, where traditional performances will be held, lion and dragon dancers will perform, and delicious Chinese and Asian foods will be served. Guests will also learn all about Lunar New Year with Asian art and culture exhibits.

San Diego Family Fun Day
Where: The Salvation Army Kroc Center - San Diego; Cost: Free
More than 40 family-fun activities are planned for San Diego Family Fun Day at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Head out and enjoy bounce houses, an inflatable obstacle course, zipline, basketball, giant party games, raffle prizes, family resources and more.

International Dance Association Festival
Where: Balboa Park Club; Cost: Free
Join the IDA dance clubs in Balboa Park and learn from experts about various styles of dances from around the world. The festival features exhibitions, dance sessions (covering folk, waltz, line dancing, Latin dancing, and more), food vendors, and crafts and dance-related items for sale.
