Can't Miss San Diego: Things to do Oct. 25 - 29

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The weekend before Halloween is sure to be packed with trick-or-treating and Halloween events, but also some great San Diego happenings that don't require a costume.

Around the county, beer will be taking center stage at various festivals and runners and walkers will get their steps in with various races.

Here's a look at what's happening around San Diego (that isn't totally devoted to Halloween) this weekend:

4th annual Trick or Trot 5K and 1-Mile Trail Fun Run - Sunday

Cost: $10 - $20

Where: Morley Field Sports Complex

Get your best Halloween outfit together and join in the annual Trick or Trot run in Balboa Park. The run benefits after-school programs at Roosevelt IB Middle School. More information.

3rd annual Bow Wow Beer Bash - Sunday

Cost: $10 - $50

Where: Mission Brewery (1441 L Street, San Diego)

Bow Wow Beer Bash will benefit Cammies and Canines, which benefits homeless dogs and veterans. The Bash includes a dog costume contest, trick-or-treat vendors, special guests, and more. More information.

Get Ur Neon Neuron On 5K - Saturday

Cost: $50

Where: Harbor Island Park

Lace up and walk or run to benefit Parkinson's research in the Get Ur Neon Neuron on 5K, featuring live music, food trucks, raffles, and vendors. More information.

3rd annual San Diego Mac n' Cheese Fest - Saturday

Cost: $35 - $65

Where: Waterfront Park

Mac n' cheese enthusiasts won't want to miss out on San Diego's celebration of ooey-gooey, cheese noodles prepared by some of the area's best chefs. Restaurants will compete for bragging rights for the best gourmet mac n' cheese in San Diego, while spectators enjoy the results with craft beer and other paired drinks. More information.

6th annual Rancho BEERnardo Festival - Saturday

Cost: $10 - $70

Where: Rancho Bernardo Webb Park

Billed as San Diego's oldest IPA beer festival, the Rancho BEERnardo Festival brings together some of the region's best IPAs (also wines for those who aren't a fan of the beer style) for a day of tastings. The event will also feature live music, games, and food, to benefit the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club. More information.

Fall Festival - Saturday - Sunday

Cost: Free

Where: Fort Cross Old Timey Adventures, Julian

Celebrate the fall season with a hayride, hoedown, petting zoo, and more at Fort Cross Old Timey Adventures in Julian. The festival also features a pumpkin patch, and old fashion candle dipping, crafts, and a tomahawk throw. More information.

Family Fall Festival - Saturday

Cost: $14

Where: San Diego Botanic Garden

The San Diego Botanic Garden will host fall-themed activities including pumpkin painting, crafts, and a petting zoo at their Family Fall Festival. Children are encouraged to wear their dress up in Halloween costumes for a contest and grab their photo with the "Big Pumpkin." More information.

San Diego Beer and Music Festival - Saturday

Cost: $35 - $50

Where: Liberty Station

Enjoy samples of more than 100 craft beers at this Halloween-themed edition of the San Diego Beer and Music Festival. Headliners Mickey Avalon and Dirt Nasty at expected, in addition to music from Coriander. The festival will benefit the Craft Gives Back organization. More information.

4th annual Jack O Smash Race and Family Festival - Sunday

Cost: $14 - $40

Where: SportsplexUSA, Poway

The Jack O Smash Race and Family Festival features a 10K, 5K, and 1K run, a celebrity softball game, the world's largest "Plinko" board, and a pumpkin smashing Trebuchet. Kids can check out the kids zone and adults who run can grab a free beer post-race. The event will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Poway. More information.

Howl-O-Ween Harvest Family Day - Sunday

Cost: $5 - $14

Where: Helen Woodward Animal Center

Helen Woodward will host a day full of animal encounters with some creepy, crawly (and fluffy) animals, trick-or-treating, and more during with family day event. Guests can also pick out pumpkin patch, face painting, and costume and pie-eating contests. More information.

Home Shows USA - Friday - Saturday

Cost: Free

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds

Find everything you need to start your next home renovation or improvement project at Home Shows USA at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Attendees for his free event can check out remodeling, landscaping, and decorating vendors showing off the latest in design and home improvement. More information.

2nd annual IB's Chills and Thrills - Saturday

Cost: Free

Where: Portwood Pier Plaza

Imperial Beach's free family Chills and Thrills event features vendors, live music, delicious local eats and more. Kids can participate in a costume contest, take part in pumpkin picking, and trick-or-treat as well. More information.

Fall Golf and Craft Beer Festival - Friday - Saturday

Where: St. Mark Golf Club
