Can't Miss San Diego: Things to do Sept. 8 - 10

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It's going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside, San Diego. A variety of festivals and events are happening this weekend across the county.

Friday kicks off with the first Becuase of the Brave Celebration at Port Pavilion, celebrating serivce members around the country and here at home. Cardiff's annual Greek Festival also kicks off Friday and runs through the weekend, serving up delicious food and live folk dancing.

Saturday is packed with events, including the San Diego Blue Festival, OB Surf Fair, Carlsbad Brewfest, Who Con San Diego, and Santee Bluegrass Festival.

No matter where you live, there's something close by. Here's a look at what's happening this weekend in San Diego County:

Because of the Brave Celebration at Port Pavilion - Friday

The inaugural Because of the Brave Celebration will honor service members across the county and here in San Diego. Attendees can check out kids activities and take in musical acts from US Navy Band Southwest, Sal Gonzalez from America's Got Talent and The Killer Dueling Pianos. A custom Harley Davidson motorcycle will also be presented to a wounded warrior and artifacts from Ground Zone on Sept. 11 will be on display. More information.

39th annual Cardiff Greek Festival at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church - Friday and Saturday

The whole family is bound to have fun in Cardiff at the annual Cardiff Greek Festival. Check out delicious Greek food, award-winning Greek folk dance performances, church tours, cooking demonstrations, kids games, and more. More information.

Who Con San Diego 2017 at Crowne Plaza Hotel - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

San Diego's only Whovian-dedicated celebration comes to town with Who Con 2017. Attendees can check out workshops, episode viewings, cosplay contests, parties, and more. Proceeds from the event benefit The Pegasus Rising Project. More information.

Revolt Summer Surf Series and first annual OB Surf Fair at Veteran's Plaza - Saturday

The Revolt Summer Surf Series comes to Ocean Beach with the first ever OB Surf Fair. Attendees can check out food, live music, raffle, and shopping with proceeds from the event benefiting the new Veteran's Plaza wall. Be sure to check out the competition too, as men and women compete throughout the morning on the waves. More information.

San Diego Blues Festival at Embarcadero Marina Park North - Saturday

Blues legend Mavis Staples will headline this year's San Diego Blue Festival, with other acts including The California Honeydrops, Joe Louis Walkers, Blue Largo, and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. More information.

Carlsbad Brewfest at Holiday Park - Saturday

Head down to Holiday Park in Carlsbad where more than 60 varieties of beer are waiting for thirsty fans at Carlsbad Brewfest. Food from Casanova Fish Tacos, Sushi Uno, and Avian's House Catering will also be available as well as live music from Oceanside Sound System. Proceeds benefit local and regional charities through the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club. More information.

2017 Walk to End Alzheimer's 5K at Crown Point - Saturday

Runners and walkers will head to Mission Bay to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association at this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's. More information.

Santee Bluegrass Festival at Town Center Community Park East - Saturday

Get for feet moving at Santee's Bluegrass Festival, featuring live music from the Homesick Hitchers and MohaviSoul, food tastings, beer and wine tastings, a silent auction, and more. More information.

2017 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run-Walk at De Anza Cove Park - Saturday

Lace up and help raise funds for research in the fight against prostate cancer at De Anza Cove this weekend. The run features a 5K run-walk, a 1-mile walk, a Kid's Superhero Dash, and post-race celebration. More information.

Tactical Fest at Waterfront Park - Saturday

Get close up look at military tools, technology, and training at the Tactical Festival. The festival will feature live demonstrations, music, and speaking engagements with military experts. Proceeds will benefit Clever Talks, a non-profit that works to benefit the lives of active-duty military members and veterans. A Carnaval parade and live music will hit Belmont Park this weekend for Brazilian Day San Diego. Live performances will feature samba, Capoeira, frevo, and much more dancing, and a beer garden and food court will keep hungry guests happy. Kids can also check out a children's zone. More information.
