From the return of Padres baseball to some classic rides taking over La Jolla, (or one of the region's weekly beer events and festivals, of course), there's an event for every pallet going on this weekend. Here's a look at what you can't miss out on:
Opening Day Block Party - Friday and Saturday
Baseball returns to San Diego and East Village is celebrating with a two-day block party on J Street outside Petco Park. The 7th annual party will kick off on Friday at 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. 7:30 p.m. Fans can check out what vendors have to offer, family friendly activities and games, and of course food and drinks, ahead of the San Diego Padres' home opening series against the San Francisco Giants. San Diego Padres opening weekend - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Speaking of Padres, they return from their season-opening series in Los Angeles to the familiar dirt of Petco Park. Tickets are still available to welcome back the Friars as they face off with the Giants, plus there are plenty of new additions to Petco Park that fans are sure to enjoy. Read more.
La Jolla Concours - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
More than 150 restored vehicles will be on display on the La Jolla Cove lawn. Spectators will also be treated to a vintage plane air show. Live 30s-era swing music will be playing throughout the event too! Read more.
VinDiego Wine and Food Festival - Saturday
The 5th Annual VinDiego Wine and Food Festival treats attendees to more than 300 wines from all over. Live music will keep the party moving as well, and the ever-popular silent auction is back again. Read more.
Fast Times 5K - Saturday
The Fast Times 5K Run/Walk takes runners and walkers around De Anza Cove, to benefit Clairemont Hill Kiwanis. Following the race, stick around for Clairemont Day at the Bay, featuring family activities. Read more.
Coastal Country Jam - Saturday
Beach, BBQ, and beer will highlight the Coastal County Jam at the Waterfront Park. Country artists Justin Moore, High Valley, Jordan Rager, and more will hit the stage, with some delicious BBQ to be had as well. Read more.
San Diego Beer and Music Festival - Saturday
Enjoy unlimited samples from more than 100 craft beers at the Port Pavillion on Broadway Pier at the San Diego Beer and Music Festival, all to benefit San Diego's Coastal Conservation Association. There will, of course, be live music, featuring the Faux Fighters, Matchbox Twenty Too, and music from Eddy Metal Hands. Read more.
Healthy Living Festival - Saturday and Sunday
More than 30 free workshops, seminar, and cooking demos will be on display at San Diego's largest health and fitness expo at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. 200 exhibitors will pack the venue to deliver healthy living products and services to attendees. Read more.
ArtFest 2017 - Saturday and Sunday
ArtFest at the Garden features some the region's finest art at the San Diego Botanical Garden in Balboa Park. Artists will display and sell their work, including paintings, sculptures, glass art, and more. An Asian art show will also be featured, as well as an art contest, where artists will try to create an entire work the fastest. Read more.
Coronado Flower Show - Saturday and Sunday
The Coronado Flower Show in Spreckles Park is the largest tented flower show in the nation. In addition to featuring some of the most beautiful flowers in the nation, attendees can enjoy home decor, unique gifts, local art, a plant sale, and gardening products and services.
