EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 7-Eleven clerk was shot multiple times and later died after a robbery in El Cajon, police said Friday.

The shooting was reported at around 2:45 a.m. at the 7-Eleven store on 335 Jamacha Rd., according to El Cajon police.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots coming from the store and saw three masked men fleeing the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

The store clerk, later identified as 31-year-old Ronald Bailey of El Cajon, was discovered on the ground inside the store with gunshot wounds to the chest and body.

Emergency responders performed CPR and then rushed Bailey to the hospital. He later died of his injuries.

Shortly after the reported shooting, police spotted three men that matched the description of the people possibly involved in the shooting and detained them for questioning.

Police determined that the three men were also responsible for an armed robbery of a 7-Eleven in Imperial Beach just a couple hours earlier.

The suspects were arrested but not publicly identified. Police only said the three suspects were ages 14, 15, and 17.

Police say there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
