SAN DIEGO -- Like thousands of people, Kim Summers watched the wild stolen car chase unfold live on 10News.

She had no idea the man at the wheel was Ahran Haughley, 41, the same guy who victimized her a year-and-a-half ago, until 10News told her Friday afternoon.

“I was a little dumbfounded,” Summers said.

In December of 2014, Summers was at Rancho Bernardo’s Community Presbyterian church to pick up her paycheck. Her coworker broke the bad news.

“She came back and said, oh, we’ve had another smash and grab. It’s a blue Honda, blah, blah, blah, and I said ‘Amy, that’s my car,” Summers said.

Haughley used a rock, smashed her passenger window and stole her purse.

“He was in and out of my car in a minute, and was instantly spending,” Summers said.

He purchased gas and shoes, but when he tried to buy a gun at big 5 sporting goods… “then they chose to ID him… and he ran,” Summers said.

Police caught him. He pleaded guilty and got nine months in jail.

10News searched court records and discovered a long rap sheet -- crimes like robbery and drugs. Haughley has served time in state prison three times, according to court records.

“He’s a low life and I can’t believe he’s out doing it again,” Summers said.

“Yeah, watch out. He’s quick,” Summers said.
