LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - East County neighbors say a popular park is being used as a bathroom by the homeless.

Linda Lake County Park includes green space which a contractor said is being used as a homeless camp.

Dennis Richardson told 10News the homeless will defecate on the front step of the bathrooms or the walking areas after the bathrooms are locked at night.

Richardson said he saw human waste in the playground.

He also said County of San Diego crews are not using the proper chemicals to keep the area clean.

In a statement to 10News, the County wrote that there have been no cases of hepatitis A linked to Lindo Lake Park and that the County follows the hepatitis A disinfection guidelines.

The County is also looking at the possibility of extending bathroom hours for the park while evaluating the security risk.
