SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A bicyclist and her dog were struck by a car as they crossed a City Heights street, but both are expected to be OK.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 4000 block of University Avenue.

A security guard was making a right turn onto University Avenue from the northbound Interstate 15 off-ramp when he struck the bicyclist and her dog in the crosswalk.

While the bicyclist was not seriously injured, her dog was hurt in the collision.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and treated the dog for its injuries, including bandaging its back paws.

The dog and its owner were taken by emergency responders to a 24-hour vet for further treatment.
