SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Haddock seized approximately 4,000 pounds of marijuana southwest of San Diego May 18.

Crew members at Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center received a call from a good Samaritan of a disabled vessel offshore.  A Customs and Border Protection aircraft located the vessel and the Haddock responded.

Once on board, the Haddock's crew discovered packages of marijuana.  The boarding team took custody of the two people aboard the vessel.

The drug smuggling suspects were transferred to the custody of the San Diego Marine Task Force.  The drugs were removed from the Haddock at Coast Guard Sector San Diego May 19.
