EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Firefighters responding to a house fire in El Cajon Thursday morning found a man dead inside.
The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. at a home in the 900 block of S. Magnolia Avenue, according to authorities.
A woman who got out of the house told firefighters that her 72-year-old father was still inside and having difficulty exiting the house.
The woman said she and a neighbor tried to enter the house to help the elderly man escape, but the raging fire prevented them from getting fully inside.
As firefighters worked to knock down blaze, several crew members entered the structure and located the man’s body near the front door.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
