Hospitals in the San Diego area say they regularly prepare for a mass trauma situation like the one that played out in Las Vegas Sunday night.
Dr. Michael Sise, Chief of Medical Staff at Scripps Mercy in Hillcrest, says the act of violence is a sobering reminder of the situations hospitals now plan for.
He believes San Diego county trauma centers are indeed ready should tragedy strike here.
Dr. Sise also says everyone can do their part by learning things like CPR and proper bleeding control, which can include applying tourniquets to the wounded.
