SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -
Westview High School senior Alexxis Brown is a stand out track and field athlete, who is carrying on the family tradition. Her mom ran track in college at the University of New Mexico, and
now Alexxis competes in the heptathlon. She is so good, she's achieved youth All-American status.
"The heptathlon really allows me to showcase my talent in more than one event, and it's something I love to do. I love to challenge myself, and the heptathlon allows me to get out there and do a little bit of everything."
Unfortunately, after missing out on her junior year to injury,, Coronavirus has put and end to her senior year.
"I was really looking forward to this season, to showcase myself, and make a comeback considering that I missed last year. However, I'm looking on the bright side, and I'm really thankful I get to continue my track career at the United States Air Force Academy"
And at the Air Force Academy she will get the chance to pursue her Olympic dreams.
"Luckily, the Air Force Academy offers a program called the world class athlete program. This allows me to train and compete for the U.S., and the United States Air Force Academy, in the Olympics. It also goes to counting as my years of service."
