A Chargers favorite and some fans helped turn a negative into a positive.

In December, the Chargers fined safety Eric Weddle $10,000 for leaving the locker room without permission at halftime to watch his daughter perform on the field.

After word spread about the fine, Sean Farrell from the group Save Our Bolts raised $700 to help pay the fine.

However, Farrell instead wrote the check to a charity of Weddle's choice. The safety chose Alliance for Hope, a group that helps domestic abuse victims.

"I play for my teammates. I play for the division, but you ultimately play for people like this," Weddle said of Farrell. "These are the people that, behind the scenes, are the inspiration for us."

Weddle is set to become a free agent.
