ROME (KGTV) - Emma Morano, crowned last year as the world's oldest living person, has died in Northern Italy, according to a report from the Associated Press. She was 117-years-old.

The AP said Morano's personal doctor reported she passed away at her home in Verbania, Italy. She was born on November 29, 1899.

Morano became the world's oldest living person in 2016, when she celebrated her 117th birthday, according to Guinness World Records. The previous record holder, Susannah Mushatt Jones, died in New York City in May 2016 at 116-years-old.

Morano was also believed to be the last person still living born in the 1800s.

The oldest person to ever live is recognized as Jeanne Louise Calment, who lived to be 122-years-old, according to Guinness World Records.
