SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was run over Tuesday night as she defended herself from two men who grabbed her backpack in the College Area.

The victim, who identified herself as Ida, told 10News she just arrived home at about 10 p.m. when two men she did not know approached her as she got out of her car in the 5500 block of Baja Drive.

The men tried to strike up a conversation and asked Ida for directions, but she said she felt uncomfortable and tried to walk away from them. However, one of the men pulled a gun out and demanded her phone and backpack before ripping the bag off her shoulders.

After Ida argued and screamed at them, the men ran to a nearby car. Ida said she ran after them and jumped through the driver's side window, but she was pushed out of the car.

Ida said the car sped away, running over her hand and leg.

Paramedics told 10News they believe the woman suffered a broken hand, but she was not taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

The two men were described as black and in their early 20s. They were last seen wearing grey hoodies and dark pants.

They drove away in a dark Toyota Camry, police said.
