NATIONAL CITY, Calif. – Interstate 5 was brought to a standstill after a woman was struck and killed while walking in freeway traffic early Monday morning.
The collision occurred on I-5 north near Division Street at around 4:18 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol incident information page.
A Sig Alert was issued at 4:38 a.m. and all northbound lanes except the far right lane were closed, backing up traffic for miles. The 8th Street northbound onramp was also shut down.
The freeway had fully reopened as of 6:45 a.m.
The name of the victim and the circumstances of the collision were not confirmed.
