SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver was arrested after authorities said she led officers on a pursuit from Coronado to Chula Vista with a young girl in the back seat.

Authorities said a police officer tried to pull over a woman in Coronado at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for a traffic infraction, but she refused to stop her vehicle and proceeded south on state Route 75 towards Imperial Beach.

At one point during the pursuit, the car ran over spike strips, but the woman continued to drive despite two damaged tires.

The woman reached Montgomery Street, near Fourth Avenue, in Chula Vista and finally stopped.

Officers were able to remove her from the vehicle and took her into custody. Authorities said the driver faces possible DUI charges, in addition to evading and child endangerment charges.

A nine-year-old girl in the back of the car was not injured during the ordeal. The girl, believed to be the driver's daughter, was picked up by a relative.
