SAN DIEGO – A driver lead San Diego police on a chase that topped 100 miles per hour and spanned two freeways before coming to an end in the Mountain View area Tuesday morning.

Sometime before 2:45 a.m., police attempted to pull over a car carrying two people for running a red light. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued on State Route 94 westbound near Euclid Avenue.

The driver lead police onto Interstate 805 south before exiting at 43rd Street and eventually hitting a dead end. His male passenger got out and ran.

Officers surrounded the car with K-9 units and guns drawn. However, the driver surrendered peacefully.
The passenger remained on the loose as of 4:30 a.m. There were no reported injuries.

Police are investigating whether the car had been reported stolen.
