SAN DIEGO -- Federal, state and local government offices will be closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday, and many of the facilities will remain shut Friday.
In the city of San Diego, the closures include administrative offices, libraries, recreation centers, city-run pools, the Miramar Landfill, Chollas Lake and the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center. Golf courses and the San Vicente Reservoir will be open, however.
Curbside refuse collection will be delayed by one day.
In the county of San Diego, administrative offices, libraries and animal shelters will be shut down Thursday and Friday. Community and teen centers in Fallbrook, Lakeside and Spring Valley will also be closed.
What will be open? Stores and shopping malls.
Kmart will open its doors at 6 a.m., though most other retailers will wait until late afternoon or early evening.
Best Buy, Macy's and Toys'R'Us will open at 5 p.m., while Kohl's, Target and Walmart will wait until 6 p.m. Most of the region's shopping malls and outlet centers will also open at 6 p.m.
Metropolitan Transit System and North County Transit District buses, trains and trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule.
For the MTS, that means no service will be provided on Rapid Express Routes 280 or 290, the Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection and most Express bus routes. Details are available here.
