SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--A San Diego-based combat ship completed successful missile firing off the Southern California coast, the U.S. Navy announced today.
The USS Jackson fired a SeaRAM missile against an aerial drone, destroying the target during a test on April 22.
The drone was simulating an anti-ship missile in an event meant to demonstrate the self-defense capability of the ship against an aerial target.
"I couldn't be more proud of my crew and all the hard work we have put forth in preparing for and accomplishing the [Combat System Ship Qualification Trials] events," Cmdr. Patrick Keller said. "It's been a long journey, with a lot of training, effort and dedication."
