Break out your best blood-curdling moan and un-dead stagger. Universal Studios Hollywood is looking for a few good zombies.
The theme park will hold auditions tomorrow and Friday in search of 100 actors to portray zombies as part of its new walk-through attraction based on the hit series "The Walking Dead."
More than 1,000 people are expected to take part in the appointment-only auditions. People interested in auditioning should go to www.USHAuditions.com to register for an appointment.
Universal Studios has presented a "Walking Dead"-themed maze for the past three years during its seasonal "Halloween Horror Nights" attraction, but the new attraction will be open year-round. The attraction is set to open this summer, although an exact date for its debut has not been set. Theme park officials said they are working with the show's executive producer/director Greg Nicotero and special effects company KNB Efx to recreate the show's decaying zombies to make the attraction "a living version of the show." It will feature zombies both alive and animatronic, along with props replicated from the show to sink visitors into the "Walking Dead" world.
The attraction will be housed in a custom-built complex just inside the theme park's main entry.
"The Walking Dead" attraction will continue a revamping of the famed theme park, which has already added so-called "immersive" environments based on the "Despicable Me" films, Springfield from "The Simpsons" animated series and most notably the recently opened "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter."
