The string of vandalism has cost MTS more than $40,000 of damage to windows, side windows, windshields and lights.

The vandals are targeting trains running along the orange line, traveling between downtown San Diego and La Mesa.

Eleven of the 19 cases have happened in Southeastern San Diego.  The locations include trolley cars traveling along areas of Encanto, Mt. Hope, Lincoln Park and Chollas View.

Lt. Manny Del Toro says most of cases happened at times when school is out. Witnesses have also described the suspects as teens.
