Vandals caused havoc in one East County community over the weekend, battering and toppling mailboxes all across town.
Along Oak Grove Drive in Descanso, Scott Rushing said he heard a loud noise on Saturday night just before 9 p.m.
Down the street, Devon Bender woke up to an upsetting sight the next morning.
"The post was completely knocked off. The mailbox was pushed completely off. You can see it's still wobbly," said Bender.
The damage on Rushing's mailbox was not as bad.
"It was cocked over and tilted over aways," said Rushing.
Adrian Butters' mailbox didn't escape the attacks either.
"I happen to walk outside and see the mailbox was sideways and destroyed," Butters said.
Neighbors told 10News the vandals hit dozens of mailboxes all across town. In some cases, the vandals tossed mail on the ground.
One neighbor saw two people in a silver or white Ford F-150 drive away.
"They got a lot of mailboxes and people are pretty upset," said Butters.
That includes Bender.
"I can't do anything to replace the entire mailbox," said Bender.
He said replacing it and the post will cost about $200.
If you have information on the case, call the sheriff's Pine Valley substation.
