SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--A man suspected of a 2015 homicide in Tijuana was turned over to Mexican officials at the San Ysidro border Friday, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
According to Mexican investigators, Daniel Evaristo Soto-Hernandez shot and killed a man in a fight about payment for a motorcycle.
Soto is a Mexican national and was admitted to the U.S. in January 2016 on a visitor visa. The day after Soto came across the border at San Ysidro, he was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Soto was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.
Soto was transferred to the Otay Mesa Detention Facility after Mexican officials alerted officers in San Diego to the outstanding homicide warrant.
