EMERALD HILLS -- A young man suspected of stabbing an acquaintance to death at an Encanto-area home over the weekend surrendered Monday and was booked on suspicion of murder.

Miguel Ramos, 20, turned himself in at downtown San Diego police headquarters Monday morning, homicide Lt. Manny Del Toro said.

Ramos allegedly stabbed 44-year-old Robert Acevedo of Lemon Grove during a scuffle outside a home in the 1000 block of Evelyn Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, then got into a car and sped off.

The victim died at the scene, despite efforts by a witness, patrol officers and paramedics to keep him alive with CPR.

Detectives determined that Ramos and Acevedo knew each other and had been involved in an ongoing dispute, according to Del Toro, who declined to disclose the nature of the disagreement.

Ramos was being held without bail at San Diego Central Jail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
