Unresolved union negotiations involving North County Transit District drivers and reservations employees may result in service disruptions this week for customers of the agency's bus routes, transportation officials advised Wednesday.
The potential unavailability of the commuter services -- potentially as soon as Thursday -- stem from ongoing contract talks between NCTD's service operator, First Transit, and its employees.
"Though the union and First Transit continue to negotiate a mutually acceptable resolution, we encourage the passengers of NCTD Lift and Flex (bus services) to plan ahead for this potential disruption," the operator company
stated. "NCTD does not anticipate any Coaster and Sprinter (train) disruption, but passengers are advised to have alternate transportation arrangements as a backup should any unforeseen disruptions occur."
The situation potentially could affect NCTD's Breeze bus line as well, officials said.
First Transit will notify the public immediately in the case of a service disruption, the company stated.
Passengers can contact the Lift service at (760) 726-1111 and Flex at (855) 844-1454 for questions or to obtain trip-planning assistance.
