(KGTV) - A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of animal abuse after a video was posted on social media showing a kitten being thrown into the street.
On Dec. 2, Ontario police were alerted to a video making the rounds on Snapchat and other social media sites that shows a young male throwing a kitten into the air and onto the street several yards away.
Ontario police said they viewed the video and were able to identify the person who threw the cat later in the day.
On Monday afternoon, police said officers spotted the boy in the city of Upland and tried to make contact with him. The boy ran from officers but was tackled and taken into custody.
The boy, who is from Ontario, was booked into San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of felony animal abuse.
ABC7 in Los Angeles reported the kitten suffered a fractured leg but is in good condition and recovering at the Inland Valley Humane Society.
