WILMINGTON, Del. -- A 16-year-old sophomore died after a fight involving several female students in a Delaware high school restroom.

Wilmington police identified the victim as Amy Joyner-Francis in a news release Friday. Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.

School district spokeswoman Kathy K. Demarest said in a statement that the 10th-grader from New Castle was involved in a confrontation involving two other students at Wilmington's Howard High School of Technology on Thursday. She says no weapons were involved and police were questioning the other students.

Police Chief Bobby Cummings said at a news conference that Howard isn't known as a violent school, and he did not know of any other problems in recent days.
