LA JOLLA -- There's a fence surrounding the cliffs, but the two women walked down.
They told San Diego fire crews they wanted to look at the waves, and that's when they slipped and fell more than 30 feet onto the rocks on Saturday night.
Crews say it was difficult rescuing them because of the high tide and dense fog tonight. They tried to bring in a helicopter, but didn't because it was hard to spot the women.
Instead 12 to 15 police and firefighters made their way down the cliffs and pulled one of the women up who had injuries to her ankle. The other woman had minor injuries and was able to make it back up herself.
