A homeless man was stabbed and robbed of his cell phone Saturday morning in the East Village after being awakened by two suspects who escaped the scene and remain at large, according to San Diego police.
The 32-year-old victim was sleeping behind an apartment complex in the 800 block of 17th Street shortly after 7:30 a.m. when a man and woman approached him and asked about his cell phone, according to officer Frank Cali.
The male suspect stabbed the victim twice, while the female suspect took the victim’s phone. Both suspects ran off, Cali said.
The victim sought help at the Neil Good Day Center nearby and was taken to a hospital by paramedics, where he was expected to be okay, Cali said.
Officers were not given a description of the suspects.
