LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A local man is hoping surveillance video will help him track down the man who "stole his livelihood."

The theft occurred along along Paseo Vista, just past 12:30 Thursday morning.  The surveillance video shows this: across from Brian McFetridge's house, a truck drives up to his.

The driver getting out and appears to tap on his truck window, possibly using a window breaker to smash the glass.

The thief loads up his truck and drives off. In a few minutes, he's back again and grabs the rest of the items.

McFetridge, owner of Landmark Mechanical - a family owned HVAC business - discovered his tools gone, thousands of dollars in power and hand tools.

"It devastating. This is my life that he's taking. If you don't have tools, you don't have work sometimes.  I need that to support my family," said McFetridge.

McFetridge says he is insured, but isn't sure if all his missing tools will be covered. Some of his tools are engraved with the first five letter of his last name.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Lakeside Sheriff's substation at 619-938-1360.
