SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver had to be rescued from his overturned truck after crashing into a barrier at the San Ysidro Port of Entry during a police pursuit.

At about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Coronado police tried to pull over a pickup truck on 13th Street for a suspected DUI, but the driver sped away.

The driver led police across the Coronado Bridge and then onto southbound Interstate 5, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.

After police abandoned the pursuit, the truck reached the border area and crashed into a barrier and flipped onto its roof.

The trapped driver was pulled out and taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

The driver is expected to face several charges.

No other injuries were reported.
