SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Santee teen’s first day of work turned scary during his trolley ride home.
16-year-old Ethan had just wrapped up his first-ever day at work - a fast food job - when he hopped a trolley from Old Town to Santee early Wednesday afternoon.
A few stops from his stop, he says 3 black teens got on and sat in his same row. The only other passenger in his car was a woman in the back. As he was texting his mom, Ethan says one of the teens came up to him and asked for the time.
According to Ethan, the teen then grabbed his iPhone 6 out of his hand and ran to one end of the car. When Ethan asked for it back, he says one of the other teens said he had "a strap" before lifting his shirt and showing Ethan a gun. Ethan backed off, just in time.
"He was getting more aggressive with showing the gun when the trolley stopped and all three took off," said Ethan.
Afterward, the woman in the back was able to get video of one of the three teens outside of the trolley. La Mesa Police is leading the investigation. An investigator tells us they'll be meeting with MTS and looking through video of the incident.
Meanwhile, Ethan's mother took to social media in search of tips, posting on Facebook pages like the East County Emergency Updates page.
