DANVILLE, Calif. (KGTV) - A pine tree fell onto lanes of Interstate 680 Monday, crushing and killing a woman driving her car in the San Francisco bay area suburb of Danville.
The crash shut down lanes of the freeway for more than three hours, starting at 9 a.m.
The pine tree, which looked completely dead, was on Caltrans property, according to CHP officials. Other trees farther up the hill also appeared to be dead.
Investigators were not sure if the woman was able to swerve as the tree fell, KGO reported.
The woman’s identity was not released.
