SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Unified students are back in school on Monday and teachers spent their final days of summer getting ready for class.
Jen Jimenez, a 5th grade teacher at Walker Elementary School, says she came even earlier to start getting ready. Reorganizing her library took 12 hours in itself.
"It's going to be an amazing year," said Jimenez. "It's a safe, respectful fun environment in here and they really come along way from the very beginning to the end of the year. That's important to me."
As she organizes her classroom Jimenez is also preparing for the forecasted climbing temperatures outside.
The school plans to set up tents with misters to keep students cool during lunch and recess. Teachers are also encouraging students to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.
