CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Sweetwater Union High School District is looking into why dozens of parents weren't able to watch their students graduate from Eastlake High School on Wednesday night at Southwestern College.
Manny Rubio, the district's director of communications, told 10News each school is responsible for planning their graduation. Eastlake High School decided to use a ticket system, with each graduating senior receiving 12 tickets.
Roughly 8,700 tickets were handed out, and Southwestern College's stadium holds up to 10,000 people.

The district also denied claims that security wasn't checking tickets and just letting everyone in. Rubio apologized to parents and said they're looking into what went wrong.
Late Thursday afternoon, the fire marshal said they weren't even at the graduation ceremony that night.
10News reached out to the district again for clarification, but they did not respond as of Thursday evening.
