SAN DIEGO - A driver speeding the wrong direction on state Route 94 was arrested early Monday morning following a pursuit.
The incident involving a Cadillac SUV going the wrong way on SR-94 at Via Mercado was reported at about 1:25 a.m.
Authorities said California Highway Patrol officers pursued the SUV as it continued to speed westbound on the eastbound lanes. A La Mesa police officer heading home for the night saw the SUV and managed to block off the road, stopping the driver in the Oak Park area.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and as he was being removed from the scene, he asked: "Did I hurt anybody? I was being good right?"
No major injuries were reported, but authorities said the wrong-way driver did cause a Toyota Corolla to swerve out of the way and crash into a center divider in Lemon Grove. Two people inside suffered minor injuries.
